Get to know me.

I build software, solve problems, and never stop learning.

Portrait of Forest

Hi there! I'm Forest 👋

I'm a software developer and DevOps engineer with an endless curiosity and love for learning, whether I'm diving into new technologies or exploring the deeper questions of existence.

You can find my setup here, or find my media recommendations here.

My career started as a junior dev at an agency, where I quickly learned to tackle complex challenges. Since then, I've spent nearly a decade helping businesses build better software. These days, I'm working with I-Fulfilment, where I help keep their global logistics and fulfilment systems running smoothly.

I'm most in my element when I'm tinkering with experimental projects, the kind that need deep research and creative problem-solving. Give me a weird integration to implement or a complex automation to figure out, and I'm happy. I work primarily with Node and Golang, orchestrating things in Kubernetes. My approach? Keep it simple, make it robust, and always plan for the future.

Beyond computers, I've spent my life deeply fascinated by metaphysics and ontology. Thinkers like Roger Penrose, Stephen Wolfram, and Giulio Tononi have influenced my understanding of how we perceive reality.

When I'm not diving into philosophy or debugging infrastructure, you might find me exploring Eastern and Northern Europe, improving my Ukrainian, or playing Fortnite. I love music, and Everything Everything, Enter Shikari, Kate Bush and Joanna Newsom are usually in my rotation.

Recently, I've been fascinated by the emergence of large language models. I've been experimenting with prompt engineering and finding ways to integrate these tools into my learning and workflow. It's amazing how quickly this field is evolving.

What drives me? Pure curiosity and the desire to make an impact. There's something deeply satisfying about knowing that something you've built is out there making someone's life a bit easier. I'm always learning, always applying new knowledge, and always looking for the next interesting problem to solve.
